A movement of evangelism is forming in the church in Ukraine. But what about discipleship?
Have you heard of School of Sons and Daughters?
As the volume of new, young believers rising to the occasion for the Gospel in Ukraine increases, we recognize the earnest cry in their eyes for mentorship. Our involvement in various ministries, evangelism outreaches, and gatherings around the country allowed us to notice the makings of a new movement in its early formation. As more young adults find the courage to share Jesus with the world, they continue to search for what it means to follow Jesus faithfully in their personal lives. Realizing the need for such discipleship, we created a school intensive called "School of Sons and Daughters," aimed at going past superficiality to cultivate an empowered ministry that flows from the resources of a "whole" soul.
What we teach:
- Cultivating the inner life with God in hiddenness
- Freedom from habitual patterns of sin and/or shame responses
- Encountering and living from the Spirit of adoption (Romans 8:15-16)
- Ministering to others through the love and power of God
To be mentored by Jesus is to become like him. He leads us into a discovery of his ways by first acquainting us with his own person. There is much more to being a follower of Jesus than doing the right things. Our praxis flows from this conviction: God is concerned with embedding the desires of his heart in us. We are not only to be his imitators, but also, be His representatives in a holistic way.
For this reason, the program is designed to follow what we call a "trinitarian model." The school begins by discovering who God is as Father. It is in the context of friendship with God that one can begin to listen to his voice. Only when we find the confidence to approach him can we adequately respond to him as he desires us to.
We begin with God's identity (Father), followed by our identity as His children (Son), and then move on to discovering how to renew our minds by renewing our souls through listening to His revelation (Spirit). This leads us to finish off by equipping each person to minister to others in the power and gifts of God.
More people are discovering who God is as a Father. Dry, unfruitful belief systems are being shorn as the Spirit of adoption continues to embrace people's hearts! Each day was full of new encounters with the Lord. Hearts began to heal as the layers peeled back, and we pressed into being one with God (John 17:21). By the end of the school intensive, people's faces shone with newfound joy and freedom. They were definitely not leaving the same as when they came!
