The way we think frames our entire conception of reality. The truth is right in front of us; yet, our perception of what we see is influenced by many variables. The truth can exist, yet we can look right through it and miss its meaning because we have been searching for another message. Our experience is inevitably shaped by what we have heard or read, and this, in turn, forms our interpretation of everything.
So, what about my perception of myself? And, of God?
As we search for answers, we are left with fistfuls of conclusions grasped from a limited and often flawed pool of information. Well, I have heard a lot of things telling me what I should believe, and so have you. Which of them is true? What if what I think about God is different from what he says? Won't this change my experience of life from what he intended it to be?
Unfortunately, sometimes to find ourselves, we start by looking at all the wrong places. We reveal a commitment to contradiction when we insist on looking at ourselves to derive some sense of self-worth. What if we are doing this all backwards?
"What comes to our mind when we think about God is the most important thing about us."A.W. Tozer
At some point in life, everyone asks the following questions: Who am I? Where do I belong? And where am I going? For us as believers, we find the answers when we look to our heavenly Father.
The fallen human nature has brought a defiled conscience, shame, and isolation. And only through Jesus Christ we can experience the remedy of forgiveness, love, and a Spirit-filled life. When we find who we are in Christ, we have a complete understanding of who we really are. He offers us a change of existence from the inside out!
In this video, Dennis shares his mission experience in Ukraine, addresses several primary existential questions within a biblical framework, and teaches what the New Testament says about our new life in Christ. In his message, he draws from Jonathan and Melissa Helser's tools in "Foundations" to show how we can examine what we believe with the revelation of God in Scripture.
